Monsieur & Madame Adelman
France, 2016 / 120 min / French OV / Dramatic Comedy
A couple’s journey. - Carte Blanche Orange Luxembourg
The funeral of a famous writer. Amid all the tributes pouring in, some of the mourners question the strange circumstances of his death. A young biographer asks the widow to tell their story, from the very beginning. After all, wasn’t she his muse, his first reader and his companion right from the 1970s? The result is a retrospective spanning almost fifty years of a partnership marked by jealousy, deception, passion and happiness. During the story, regrets resurface, but so do recollections of times spent together, precious and full of love.
This quirky comedy marks the directorial debut of comedian Nicolas Bedos, featuring the same unique spirit that characterises his sketches.

While French comedian Nicolas Bedos (1980) made a name for himself with his televised performances and columns (Semaine Critique, On n’est pas couché, Marianne), he first rose to prominence through writing and directing theatre plays. Nominated twice for a Molière award, he has directed Mélanie Laurent and Jérôme Kircher, among others. He has also written numerous screenplays for television and cinema, among them “Les Infidèles” starring Jean Dujardin. “Monsieur & Madame Adelman” is his directorial debut.
