In einem mexikanischen Bergdorf verwandeln drei Mädchen verlassene Häuser in Kulissen für ihre Spiele und verkleiden sich als Frauen, wenn niemand zusieht. Ihre Mütter zeigen ihnen, wo sie sich notfalls verstecken können, wenn potenzielle Entführer des Drogenkartells auftauchen. Allmählich wird die latente Gewalt zu einer unentrinnbaren Bedrohung.

Tatiana Huezo
Tatiana Huezo wurde in Salvador geboren und lebt in Mexiko. Sie absolvierte die Filmhochschule Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) und erwarb einen Master im Fach Dokumentarfilm an der Universität Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Sie führte in mehreren Kurzfilmen wie Arido (1992), Familia (2004) oder Sueño (2005) Regie, dann erlangte sie internationale Bekanntheit mit ihrem ersten Spielfilm El lugar más pequeño (2011), der auf über 80 Festivals weltweit gezeigt wurde.
Nach dem Kurzfilm Ausencias (2015) drehte sie Tempestad (2016), der als Weltpremiere auf der Berlinale (Sektion Forum) präsentiert wurde und in Mexiko vier Ariel-Preise gewann.
In den letzten Jahren hat sie an verschiedenen internationalen Schulen Film gelehrt und das Buch El Viaje, rutas y caminos andados para llegar a otro planeta geschrieben.
Prayers for the Stolen ist ihr letzer Spielfilm.
