Deutschland, 2019 / 89 min / Deutsche Originalfassung (DE OF) / Familie

A German and Syrian boy overcome differences through their shared passion for football.

Ben and his family have to move to a nearby city because their village has to give way to an expanding coal mine. Ben fails to fit in at his new school, but thankfully there’s his passion for football. That is until Tariq arrives, a Syrian refugee and talented player who challenges Ben’s position as a striker on the team. Even though the two start out as competitors, they soon come to realise that they have more in common than they thought. Tariq confesses that he is desperate to be reunited with his scattered family, so to cheer him up, Ben secretly takes him to his old, abandoned house. Their developing friendship will make them both feel more at home in their new lives.
