Babygirl<\/em><\/strong>, which premiered at the <\/span>Venice Film Festiva<\/strong>l<\/span><\/a> is our new LuxFilmLab. It stars <\/span>Nicole Kidman<\/span><\/strong> (<\/span>Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, The Others\u2026<\/span><\/em>), <\/span>Harris Dickinson<\/span><\/strong> (T<\/span>riangle of Sadness, The Iron Claw\u2026<\/span><\/em>), and <\/span>Antonio Banderas<\/span><\/strong> (<\/span>La P<\/span>iel<\/span> que habito, Interview with a Vampire\u2026) in the<\/span><\/em> main roles.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nicole Kidman\u2019s performance was awarded a few months ago at the Venice Film Festival<\/strong> and recently at the National Board of Review<\/strong>. She said that \u201cIt was very freeing\u201d (Golden Globes) and that the film gives a \u201cvery modern look at women\u2019s sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Halina Reijn<\/strong>, director of Instinct<\/em> (2019) and Bodies, Bodies, Bodies<\/em> (2021), returns to discuss desire, both hidden and assumed, with a central question of \u2018What do we really desire?<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0 An answer that often remains laconic and taboo.<\/p>\n

At a time when women’s voices are becoming freer<\/strong>, are we still shaped by patriarchy<\/strong> and subject to the balance of power?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These are the questions addressed in Halina Reijn\u2019s third feature film, a thriller and an erotic drama<\/strong>, in which the director masters the genres, still with a touch of humour<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first Wednesday of every month, LuxFilmLab \u2013 a joint initiative by Luxembourg City Film Festival and Kinepolis \u2013 highlights one feature film, chosen in cooperation by LuxFilmFest\u2019s team and the Kinepolis programme team. A member of the Festival programming team introduces the special LuxFilmLab screenings, with the aim of supporting films whose release dates didn\u2019t allow for them to be selected for the Festival itself but whose artistic qualities would very likely have led to their inclusion in the LuxFilmFest line-up.<\/p>\n
