Statement by the International Jury (PABLO TRAPERO (Jury President), LIOR ASHKENAZI, MARTINA GUSMÁN, JOACHIM LAFOSSE, GOVINDA VAN MAELE and JULIETTE WELFLING):

“For the courage and passion poured by the filmmakers into this unconventional and moving love story, brilliantly filmed with an impeccable and original mise-en-scène, the Special Mention goes to THE MAN WHO SURPRISED EVERYONE by Natasha Merkulova and Aleksey Chupov.

The Grand Prix by Orange Luxembourg is awarded to an artistically radical film, profound, authentic and compassionate that portrays a universal social reality. Made with integrity, it incites strong emotions in the audience and confronts them with our human condition that is harsh, but needs to be faced. The Grand Prix goes to RAY & LIZ by Richard Billingham.”
