Masterclass Alejandro Jodorowsky
LuxFilmFest is pleased to invite you to an exceptional encounter with legendary French-Chilean director and screenwriter Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Author, screenwriter, poet, director, essayist, musician and philosopher all rolled into one, Alejandro Jodorowsky is an avant-gardist figure. Literally worshipped for his mystical oeuvre, he turned the combination of violence, surrealism, and his own, very personal esoterism into his distinct trademark. His filmography – from Fando and Lis to El Topo, The Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre, The Rainbow Thief and La Danza de la Realidad – is the subject of countless analyses and documentaries.
After Ray Liotta, Volker Schlöndorff and Mike Leigh, Alejandro Jodorowsky will receive this 10th edition’s Lifetime Achievement Award at LuxFilmFest’s official Opening Ceremony (Thursday, 5th March, 7pm at Kinepolis Kirchberg. The award will be presented by Philippe Rouyer, film critic and historian, journalist for the French film magazine Positif and the film section of the magazine Psychologies, as well as regular panellist on “Mauvais genres” on France Culture and “Le Cercle” on Canal+ Cinéma. Philippe Rouyer will also host an exceptional encounter at the Cinémathèque with Alejandro Jodorowsky on 6th March, following the screening of the latter’s Psychomagic, an Art that heals (2019) (2.30pm), the most complete artistic portrayal of Jodorowsky’s creative and therapeutic work.
