BONJOUR LE MONDE !
France, 2019 / 61 min / French Original Version / Animation
Ten animals born on a river bank learn about the rules of life and get to know each other.
In a landscape dominated by lakes, rivers and forests, ten animals are born, grow up, chase each other and watch over one another. Each one of them has their own dreams. Under the water, the tiny pike wants to become a “colossal” fish while the young dragonfly would like to learn how to fight. The salamander dreams of crawling out of the water to discover the skies above. On the river bank, a beaver just can’t resist the scent of trees, while the great bittern wants nothing more than to catch the moon. Up in the trees, an owl flies away and meets a bat which loves music. The turtle on the other hand is entertained by this world where everything is in a rush. This familiar environment evolves with the passing of the seasons, changes from day to night. And each animal offers a different amusing and poetic vision of the riverbend they call home.
The flora and fauna in Bonjour le monde ! has been caringly created out of paper and yet seems perfectly real and alive. It is thus very accessible and ideally suited to teach young viewers about the natural diversity and respect for the environment.
