A little boy from a slum wants to change his life through tennis.
Mica, a boy from the slums of Meknes, is hired as handyman at a swanky tennis club frequented by Casablanca’s high society. Ready to do everything in his power to change his fate, he is he noticed by Sophia, a former tennis champion, who takes him under her wing.
Ismaël Ferroukhi is a French-Moroccan director born in 1962. He made a name for himself by directing his first short film in 1992, L'Exposé, which won two awards (Kodak and SACD Award for the Best Short Film) at the Cannes Film Festival. His first feature film, The Grand Journey, won the Lion of the Future Award for the Best First Feature at the Venice Film Festival in 2004. Free Men was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. Mica (2020) is his fourth feature film.
