Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, 2017 / 73 min / German version (DE) / Family

A little boy does all he can to take his pet giraffe to school.

Patterson, a small boy, has a big friend: Raf, a giraffe. They were born on the same day, live next door to each other, and are completely inseparable. When Raf has to go to school for the first time, they are both very excited. That is until Patterson realises that Raf isn’t allowed to join him, but has to stay in the zoo. In school, Patterson misses Raf a lot, but also experiences a lot of new things and makes a new friend, Yous. When Raf starts to feel left out, Patterson comes up with a plan to bring Raf to school and to unite his two best friends.

“Based on one of Holland’s most beloved nursery rhymes, a funny, fanciful story unfolds about the value of an unusual friendship and the fundamental changes that threaten it.” Berlin International Film Festival, 2018
