A mother joins an underground band of vigilantes to try and rescue her daughter from a state-run institution.
After a destructive war across North America, a military occupation seizes control of society. One of their core tactics: taking children from their families and putting them into State Academies, or forced-education camps. Niska is a Cree mother desperate to protect her daughter, Waseese. However, events force mother and daughter to separate, leading Niska to join a brand of underground Cree vigilantes to infiltrate a state-run children’s academy and get her daughter back. Night Raiders is a female-driven dystopian drama about resilience, courage and love.

“By innovating within these familiar tropes, director Danis Goulet has delivered a fresh spin on what could have easily been a repetition of all that has come before. (…) The film establishes a foreboding atmosphere within minutes, maintaining a sense of urgency throughout, even in its quieter moments. Danis Goulet has a sharp eye for managing her audience’s expectations too, knowing which parts of the story should be stated explicitly, and what should remain shrouded in mystery.” Oliver Johnston, The Upcoming, 02/03/2021
“The dystopian sci-fi drama is approached from a fresh perspective in Night Raiders, a deeply-felt parable about the eradication of Indigenous North Americans. Working impressively with a low budget, Goulet capably produces an atmosphere of melancholy and societal decay.” Tim Grierson, Screendaily, 02/03/2021
“Goulet’s creation of an unforgiving world is full of intricate details and the performances impressive, especially from Tailfeathers, who anchors the film with her quiet courage. It’s a tough story but one told with skill and by a name to watch for.” Freda Cooper, The People’s Movies, 04/03/2021
