Jonas’s summer visit to his cool grandfather turns into a luminous and light-hearted tale of rebellion.
Jonas, longs to spend the summer shooting the rapids and exploring the Slovakian countryside with his cool grandpa, but his exasperated mother has already made other plans. Jonas sneaks away from his home in Dresden to take the train by himself to his grandpa's charming little town. When he arrives, he discovers that his grandfather has changed and realises why his mother didn't want him to go there. Jonas is left on his own while his grumpy grandpa mopes. Luckily, he befriends his brave and tomboyish neighbour Alex with whom he creates a scheme to raise money for a raft of their own, unleashing a series of dodgy shenanigans. Their illegal racket creates an uproar in the village, lands Jonas’s grandpa in jail, and causes Alex and Jonas' friendship to fray. Jonas now has to find a way to repair the mess he’s made and get his granddad out of prison.
