Angeliki Papoulia (Actress)

Angeliki Papoulia was born in Athens, Greece. She graduated from Athens University (Theatre Studies) and the “Empros” Theatre Drama School in 2000. She speaks English and French.

In 2004, she co-founded the Blitz Theatre Group known in Europe for its innovative, “devised” approach to theatre performances. “blitz” theatre group was among the candidates to the XIII Europe Prize Theatrical Realities (2012). To date, she has written, directed and acted in all the group’s performances. The group has presented its performances in various festivals and theatres in France, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Greece.

She was the leading actress in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth, which won the Prix Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes in 2009 and was nominated for The Academy Award of the Best Foreign Language Film. She also had a leading role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Alps, which won the Osella for Best Screenplay at the 68th Venice International Film Festival. She was finaly the leading actress in Syllas Tzoumerkas’A Blast which had its premiere in Locarno Film Festival in 2014.
