CATHERINE CHÉRY
Catherine Chéry has been the Director of Planning Familial since 2003. In February 2009, before the national elections of the same year, Planning Familial, led by its Board of Directors, its President Danielle Igniti and its Director, Catherine Chéry, launched “Si je veux “, a major campaign to raise awareness and to demand the liberalisation of the Luxembourg abortion law. An international conference took stock of a restrictive, thirty-year-old law. The political activists did not waver until the reform of the law is included in the main parties’ electoral programme. A compromise law is finally voted in 2012, with amendments added in 2014. With all the strength of the Si je veux ! collective, the law passed enshrines women's right to self-determination.
