JEFF SCHMIT

Jeff Schmit is the director of the Uerschterhaff Penitentiary Centre (CPU) and is responsible for the implementation of the organisational concept of the various departments and internal flows that will allow for a more efficient management of this centre in the future. He started his career in the prison environment in 2005. From June 2006 until early 2019, Jeff Schmit, in his function as deputy director, co-directed the various services of the “Centre Pénitentiaire de Luxembourg” in Schrassig (CPL), including, for several years, the detention service, which constitutes the “core business” of a prison. Since 2012, he has been involved in the planning of the third penitentiary centre in Luxembourg, which is currently in the final phase of construction. His 15 years at the CPL made him an expert in the penitentiary field and he has thus been able to advise the actors involved in the planning and construction of the CPU, making sure that the facility’s architecture and infrastructure are optimally suited to their future use.
