Sergei Freedman

Sergei (Israel) Freedman was born in 1977 in Zhytomir, Ukraine (former USSR). At the age of 13 he and his family repatriated to Israel, where he finished school and studied Cinema and TV at the Faculty of Arts of the Tel Aviv University. He has been working as a Director of Photography, Videographer and Camera Operator on fiction films, TV series and documentaries for over 15 years. His award-winning cinematography and recent filmography includes among others "Dark Night" (2004) by Leon Prudovsky, Evegeny Ruman's TV series "Between the Lines" (2009), the documentary "Thieves by Law" (2010) by Alexander Gentelev, and Maya Zinshtein's documentary “Forever Pure” (2016). From 2009 to 2012, Sergei worked as ENG (Electronic News Gathering) cameraman, a period during which he filmed hundreds of TV items, TV specials and live shows. Since 2004, Sergei has been teaching the Basics of Cinematography at The Steve Tisch School of Film and Television, Tel Aviv University.
