Véronique de Ryckere
Head of Protection Unit for Belgium and Luxembourg, Regional Representation for Western Europe, UNHCR
Véronique de Ryckere has worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) since 1992. She is presently appointed in the Regional Representation for EU
affairs, in Brussels, since 2000 where she heads the Protection Unit for Belgium and Luxembourg. Prior to this she worked for UNHCR in France, Kosovo, Argentina (in the office
covering the South of Latin America) and Zambia. She began her career in Belgium with the Ministry of Justice’s Commissariat Général aux Réfugiés et aux Apatrides. She was educated
in the Belgian universities of Notre Dame de la Paix and Université Catholique de Louvain, and the London School of Economics in England.
