Marta Prus was born in Warsaw in 1987.  She studied History of Art at the Warsaw University and graduated in Documentary Filmmaking at the Wajda School. In 2009, she started a Film Directing course at the National Film School in Lodz. Outside of filmmaking she has a keen interest in contemporary dance and rhythmic gymnastics. Two of her documentaries, Vakha and Magomed (2010) and Eighteenth Birthday (2012), won several awards at international festivals. In 2014, she worked on the Telemark’s TV documentary series Teen Mom Poland (2014). She received the Wiesław Nowicki Prize for the most promising young filmmaker in 2014. Her film Over the Limit (2017) won the Best Documentary Award at Luxembourg City Film Festival in 2018, as well as many other international prizes.
