Mike Newell is an English director. He directed various British TV shows before landing his first critical hit with Bad Blood (1981). In 1985, he won the Award of the Youth at Cannes Film Festival. In 1994, he broke British box-office records with Four Weddings and a Funeral which won several prestigious awards internationally. He then went on to direct a number of films in Hollywood, such as Donnie Brasco (1997), Mona Lisa Smile (2003), and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010). In 2005, he became the first British director to helm an entry in the Harry Potter film series with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
