Presented at the Directors\u2019 Fortnight in Cannes in 2025, this film is a rare cinematic work that combines the poetry of a fairy tale with the harsh reality of a complex historical context.<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\"><strong>A moving tale that highlights the strength of love and friendship in the darkest of times.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In 1990s Iraq, 9-year-old Lamia must bake the President&#8217;s birthday cake. A member of the Festival programming team introduces the special LuxFilmLab screenings, with the aim of supporting films whose release dates didn\u2019t allow for them to be selected for the Festival itself but whose artistic qualities would very likely have led to their inclusion in the LuxFilmFest line-up.<\/p>\n<p>*LuxFilmFest isn\u2019t involved in the commercial aspects of these screenings.
