The Festival has this year introduced some new category labels as part of its continuing effort to help audiences negotiate the programme.
One of the new labels is FESTIVAL POPS, which has been applied to a cross-genre selection of films that can be described as feel-good or crowd-pleasing movies. These are films from all over the world (including a Luxembourg co-production) that tackle a wide range of subjects and will appeal to a broad audience.
Many of these films feature household names including Helen Mirren, Emma Thompson, Isabelle Huppert, Lily James, Florence Pugh, Olivia Colman, Sigourney Weaver, Morgan Freeman, Colin Firth, Dany Boon and Jérémie Renier. There are films from first-time directors as well as from well-established helmers including Sam Mendes, François Ozon, Paul Schrader, Shekhar Kapur and Zach Braff.
