About the Luxembourg City Film Festival
With 21,890 cinema-goers recorded for its 2026 edition, the Luxembourg City Film Festival confirms the strength and loyalty of its film-loving audience. Overall, across all activities combined—including cinema screenings, school programmes, educational workshops, the Immersive Pavilion at neimënster, and the annual exhibition at Cercle Cité—the Festival brought together 38,711 participants.
The moving tribute paid to the legendary actress Isabelle Huppert by Emmanuelle Béart left a lasting impression this year. Driven by a unique energy, the International Jury had never been so rock ‘n’ roll: under the presidency of Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the collective made up of Lisandro Alonso, Emmanuelle Béart, Peter Doherty, Rae Lyn Lee, and Alma Pöysti brilliantly embodied the bold spirit of this 2026 edition.
Following the complete professionalisation of the Artistic Committee in 2025, the 2026 edition was marked by a major strategic evolution through a total overhaul of the subcategories in its Out of Competition selection. Redesigned to offer increased legibility and greater editorial clarity, this new architecture provides better guidance for festival-goers through the rich and varied range of film genres on offer. Whether spotlighting emerging filmmakers, exploring new cinematic forms, or offering diverse genres (dramas, comedies, documentaries), this restructuring confirms the Festival’s desire to make its out-of-competition programming sharper, more dynamic, and accessible to all audiences.
The Immersive Pavilion (neimënster): An essential space dedicated to virtual arts and technologies, the Pavilion achieved historic, sold-out success, reaching a round figure of 10,000 immersive screenings across the entire edition.
The “Here Comes the Sun” exhibition at Cercle Cité brought together more than 3,100 visitors.
