Luz
Synopsis
In Chongqing, Wei is desperately searching for his daughter Fa, while in Paris, Hong Kong-based gallerist Ren reconnects with his gravely ill stepmother Sabine (played by Isabelle Huppert). Their separate journeys converge in Luz, a fascinating virtual reality world inhabited by a mystical deer.
In Luz, virtual reality becomes a metaphor for broken or lost connections, and a strong desire to reconnect. Driven by immersive visual aesthetics and performances of Isabelle Hupert and Sandrine Pinna, Flora Lau’s second feature offers a profound reflection on isolation and hope.
