

The Seed of the Sacred Fig
Synopsis
Iman, an investigating judge on Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, grapples with mistrust and paranoia as nationwide political protests intensify and his gun mysteriously disappears. Suspecting the involvement of his wife Najmeh and his daughters Rezvan and Sana, he imposes drastic measures at home, causing tensions to rise. Step by step, social norms and the rules of family life become suspended.

Mohammad RASOULOF


Mohammad Rasoulof is an Iranian director, writer, and producer. His debut docudrama The Twilight won Best Film Award at Fajr Film Festival, but he became known to international audiences with his debut feature, Iron Island. He has won several international awards, including the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes (A Man of Integrity) and the Golden Bear at Berlinale (There Is No Evil). His last film The Seed of the Sacred Fig won the Jury Special Prize at Cannes and is nominated at the 2025 Oscars for Best International Feature Film.
