Biografie
Julie Gayet began her career as an opera singer before moving into theatre and film. In 1995, she secured her first major role under the direction of Agnès Varda, starring alongside Mathieu Demy. In 2007, she founded the production company Rouge International, through which she has produced 23 films, including Julia Ducournau’s Raw and Ziad Doueiri’s The Insult, before co-producing Faces Places, the final film by Agnès Varda and JR. A long-standing advocate for women’s rights, she has supported the Fondation des Femmes since 2017, organising major annual events, including the first large-scale public concert at the Adidas Arena in 2025. Together with Mathieu Busson, she has co-directed several documentaries exploring the role of women in society. In 2024, she directed her first narrative film, dedicated to Olympe de Gouges.
