Divine Comedy
Synopsis
Bahram, a 40-year-old filmmaker, has never seen his films screened in his own country, due to the censorship imposed by the Iranian Ministry of Culture. When his latest project is censored once again, he decides to organise a clandestine screening in Iran, along with his intrepid producer Sadaf. Riding around Tehran on a Vespa, they engage in a series of absurd interactions, remaining hopeful that one day the film will be shown.
After presenting Terrestrial Verses (2023) and Higher Than Acidic Clouds (2024), LuxFilmFest now showcases Ali Asgari’s new film Divine Comedy, a film using frustration and absurdity as a narrative material, turning them into forces of resistance against censorship.
