Rashid, The boy from Sinjar
Synopsis
Rashid belongs to the Yazidi community, a Kurdish-speaking ethnic and religious minority from northern Iraq that was subjected to genocide between 2014 and 2017. After surviving ISIS prisons as a child, Rashid now lives in Sinjar with his family and dreams of a much brighter future in a country healing its gaping wounds, where the Yazidis are still under threat.
Jasna Krajinovic dedicates her entire film to raising awareness of the Yazidi community, the countless acts of violence they suffered and the persistent threats they face. She follows the deeply moving Rashid, who recounts unbearable abuses while retaining extraordinary warmth and resilience.
