Mahalia Belo is an English film and television director who studied filmmaking at the National
Film and Television School. Her graduation film Volume (2012) screened at the Sundance and BFI
London film festivals, and won a BIFA award in the Best British Short Film category. She received
acclaim for directing two serial dramas for the BBC, The Long Song (2018) and Requiem (2018), as
well as a BAFTA for her BBC film Ellen (2016). The End We Start From is her debut feature film.
