Synopsis

A wonderful tale of coming to terms with oneself

Rona, 30 years old and just out of rehab, returns to the wilds of Scotland’s Orkney Islands after more than a decade of dissolute life in London. As she reconnects with the spectacular landscape in which she grew up, memories of her childhood mingle with the more recent events that led her on the road to recovery.

With a constant dialogue between her heroine’s past life and her redemptive path, in the heart of the sublime Orkney archipelago, author and filmmaker Nora Fingscheidt brings her deeply moving memories to the screen.

Nora Fingscheidt

Born in Braunschweing in 1983, Nora Fingscheidt spent her childhood between Germany and Argentina. From 2003, she supported the development of filmArche, a self-managed film school in Berlin. At the same time, she was took acting direction lessons from Sigrid Andersson. Between 2008 and 2017, Nora studied directing at the Film Academy Baden-Wurttemberg. Her graduation film, the documentary Without This World (2017), won the Max Ophüls Prize and the First Steps Award. In 2019, Benni, her first feature film, brought her to the attention of the general public.
