Biografie

Arthur Harari is a key figure in contemporary cinema, combining the talents of director, screenwriter, and actor. His career behind the camera began with the direction of short films from 2005, while he also distinguished himself as an actor from 2010, notably appearing in Justine Triet’s Age of Panic (La Bataille de Solférino). In 2016, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Dark Inclusion (Diamant noir), which won Niels Schneider the César for Most Promising Actor. He solidified his screenwriting credentials with Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle, for which he was awarded the César for Best Original Screenplay in 2021.

International acclaim followed with the phenomenal success of Anatomy of a Fall, which he co-wrote with Justine Triet. This legal drama received widespread critical and industry praise, winning several prestigious awards, including a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and a César, before clinching the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay at the 96th Academy Awards.

Currently, Arthur Harari has returned to directing with his new project entitled L’Inconnue (The Unknown), selected for the Official Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. This feature film, reuniting Léa Seydoux and Niels Schneider on screen, is an adaptation of his own graphic novel, Le cas David Zimmerman, co-written with his brother Lucas Harari. Described as a realistic urban chronicle blending investigation, melodrama, and daydreams, the film explores the fate of a man waking up in the body of a mysterious woman.
