A perfect embodiment of a festival that is curious, passionate and committed, this final day will, as is tradition, kick off with Tricky Women / Tricky Realities (2.30 pm, Ciné Utopia), a selection of animated short films from Vienna that demonstrate, frame by frame, how women and genderqueer artists offer unique perspectives.
At 6.15 pm, the Cinémathèque @Théâtre des Capucins will screen Memory by Vladlena Sandu, the recent winner of the BGL BNP Paribas Documentary Award.
At 8.30 pm, it’s time for the screening of the GRAND PRIX winner of this 2026 edition (Cinémathèque @Théâtre des Capucins): My Father’s shadow.
Free from the usual formalities, the official closing film is sure to surprise more than a few. Rosebush Pruning by Karim Aïnouz (7 pm, Kinepolis Kirchberg) offers a satire that is, to say the least, biting, sensual and off-the-wall, centring on an American family falling apart with style and without taboos.
This edition has been all of these things at once: images that unsettle and heal, voices we don’t hear often enough, packed cinemas and audiences who have chosen to look at the world differently. Thank you for placing your trust in us.
