Synopsis

Muminpappa fasst seine Kindheit in anschaulichen Geschichten für Mumin Troll zusammen, denn diesem geht es nicht gut und er braucht Unterhaltung.  

Als Mumin-Troll einen Wespenstich bekommt und im Bett liegen muss, will Mumin-Pappa ihn aufmuntern, indem er von seiner eigenen abenteuerlichen Jugend erzählt. Pappa erzählt von seiner missverstandenen Kindheit, wie er aus dem Waisenhaus flieht und von seiner historischen Begegnung mit einem Erfinder namens Hodgkins. Er erzählt von seinen Kämpfen in heftigen Stürmen auf dem Schiff Oshun Oxtra und all seinen Abenteuern im Reich des Autokraten Daddy Jones. Pappa gründet eine Kolonie, freundet sich mit einem Gespenst an und – in einer stürmischen Nacht – rettet er Muminmamma aus dem Meer. Und der Rest ist Geschichte.

Ira Carpelan

Ira Carpelan has a master’s degree in political science. She works as a director, producer and scriptwriter and is a former journalist at the Finnish broadcasting company YLE. She was also involved in planning international aid and development cooperation projects as a former executive director of an international children and youth organisation. As a director, she is best known for her animated films Moomins and the Winter Wonderland (2017) and The Exploits of Moominpappa (2021).
