Born in 1970 in Vienna, Berlin-based Barbara Albert began studying directing and screenwriting at the Vienna Film School in 1991. Her student film Nachtschwalben won the ‘Best Short’ at Saarbrücken’s Filmfestival Max Ophüls-Preis in 1994. She has since directed, written and produced numerous award-winning feature films which have premiered at major film festivals worldwide, making her one of the most respected German-language directors of her generation.
