Une comédie musicale grandiose capturant l’extase et l’agonie d’une utopie religieuse
À la fin du 18ème siècle, Ann Lee quitte l’Angleterre pour New York, où elle fonde le mouvement religieux des Shakers. Prônant l’égalité des genres et l’égalité sociale, elle est vite vénérée par ses fidèles comme l’incarnation féminine du Christ.
Inspiré de faits réels, le film dépeint la création d’une société utopique, et le culte des Shakers à travers le chant et la danse.

Mona Fastvold
Mona Fastvold is a Norvewgian director, screenwriter and actress. She is renowned for directing The Sleepwalker (2014), presented at Sundance, and The World to Come (2020), selected in Competition at Venise. She also gained international recognition for her collaborations as a screenwriter, notably with her husband Brady Corbet. She co-wrote Vox Lux (2018) and The Brutalist (2024), which was nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Original Screenplay. Her third feature-film, The Testament of Ann Lee (2025) had its world premiere at Venise.
