International Submissions
Since the 2012 edition, the Festival has become competitive and awards the best international cinema in the feature (€10,000) and documentary (€5,000) film competition. In 2022, a new prize was added: the 2030 Award by Luxembourg Aid & Development (€7,500), which honours a work that falls within the scope of cooperation. Other awards include the Audience Award by Orange (no monetary reward) and, since 2023, the FIPRESCI Award (no monetary reward).
The young audience competition includes the Youth Jury Prize by Kinepolis (€2,000), the School Kids Award (no monetary reward), and the Kids Jury Award (no monetary reward).
The submissions are open until November 15th 2023.
Terms and Conditions (international submissions)
Eligibility: Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to the Luxembourg City Film Festival. By submitting your film for consideration, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined below. To be eligible for consideration, your film must fall into one of the following categories: international feature fiction film or documentary. Please note that the LuxFilmFest does not accept international short films as of today.
Payment: There is a submission fee of 25€ for international feature films. This fee is non-refundable.
Release: Your film should not have been released in cinemas in Luxembourg, Belgium, France, or Germany before March 10th, 2024. This applies to all types of films, including documentaries, feature films, and short films. However, if your film has been presented at previous festivals, it does not affect its eligibility.
Submission: To submit your film, you must provide a link to an online screener and complete the submission form.
Selection: The selection committee will make the final decisions on which films are chosen for the LuxFilmFest. Their decision is considered final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their selection. The rightsholders of selected films will receive notification via email.
Copyright: By submitting your film, you confirm that you hold all the rights to the film and its content. You also confirm that your film does not infringe upon any third-party rights. The Luxembourg City Film Festival will not be held responsible for any copyright infringement or legal issues arising from the screening of your film.
Technical Requirements: As a requirement for participation, you must provide a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for your film. If the provided DCP is found to be non-functional, you will be expected to make the necessary corrections promptly. If, for any reason, it is not possible to correct the issue promptly, the Festival reserves the right to exclude the film from the program.
Withdrawal: If you decide to withdraw your film from consideration, you should notify the Luxembourg City Film Festival in writing as soon as possible. Once your film has been selected and the screening schedule has been announced, it cannot be withdrawn.
Acceptance: By submitting your film, you are acknowledging that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined above. If you do not agree with any of the terms and conditions, we kindly request that you refrain from submitting your film for consideration.
