I Stand Alone (Seul contre tous)
Synopsis
A misanthrope horse butcher’s life and mind begin to break down as he lashes out against various factions of society while attempting to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Is stand alone is Noé’s first feature film, following on directly from his previous medium-length feature, Carne.
This „film noir“, with its razor-sharp editing, explosive aesthetics of misery and a screenplay as breathtaking as it is humorous, caused a real stir in France when it was released in 1998.
