THE RAPE WILL TEAR YOU IN TWO BUT IT WILL NOT END YOU is a video interpretation of a poem of the same name by Canadian poet Rupi Kaur. To the repetitive rhythm of music by Austrian composer Stefan Grimus, fragments of images, found footage and pulses of colour follow one another. An attempt to translate painful memories into visual language.
Lucie Wahl is a Luxembourgish film director living and working between Paris, Luxembourg and Vienna.
After studying film (Film School Vienna, 2017) and political science (BA University of Vienna, 2020), she is currently attending the ateliers of Angelica Mesiti (Beaux-Arts Paris, ongoing) and the class of Constanze Ruhm (Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, ongoing). In addition to her studies, Wahl produced an co-directed films for the political art collective Richtung22 (since 2013). She also undertook her own film projects, including “Third Floor” (2021) is one of the latest. Through the media of film and video art Wahl explores the intersection between aesthetics and politics, playing with elements of repetition and investigating the senses of time
