Biography

Ben Wheatley is a major figure in British independent cinema, renowned for his genre films blending dark humor and social satire. After a successful career in advertising, he turned to filmmaking with his feature debut Down Terrace (2009) and came to prominence with his horror film Kill List (2010), awarded at Sitges Film Festival. He cemented his status as a distinctive and versatile director with forays into horror, action or science-fiction, regularly awarded at festivals. He gained international recognition with High-Rise (2015) and Free Fire (2016). His latest film Normal (2025) premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
