Biography

Bill Plympton was born in Portland, Oregon in 1946. In 1968, he moved to New York and studied at the School of Visual Arts, while working as a cartoonist and illustrator for The New York Times, Vogue, The Village Voice and Rolling Stones. In the 1980s, Bill Plympton made his first animated shorts and his first feature film, The Tune. In 1998, his second feature, I Married a Strange Person! won the Grand Prix at Annecy Film Festival. Mutant Aliens won the Grand Prix at Annecy for the second time. His eighth film, Slide, was presented this year in the Contrechamp competition at the Annecy Film Festival.
