Synopsis

The first film by the pioneer of Luxembourg cinema

A marriage in the upper middle class. Catherine comes from a rich family, Christian comes from an impoverished one. The newlyweds have one thing in common: heroin. After the party, Catherine leaves the marital apartment to get drugs but does not return. Her husband, impatient, goes to look for her. A long journey begins…

Après des études de cinéma à l'ESEC (Paris), Pol Cruchten tourne en 1989 le court métrage Somewhere in Europe, qui fait le tour des festivals du monde. Son premier film, Nuit de noces (1992), est la première œuvre luxembourgeoise à être sélectionnée à Cannes. Après son second court métrage, Sniper, Cruchten revient au long avec Black Dju (1996), un film sur les déboires d'un Cap-Verdien au Luxembourg avec Philippe Léotard. Puis, il s'exile aux États-Unis pour tourner Boys on the run (2003). Adapté d'un best-seller, Petits secrets sort au Luxembourg en 2006. Le réalisateur s’éteint en 2019.
