Biography

Born in 1976 in Newlyn, Cornwall, Mark Jenkin began his career in London before joining Falmouth University as a Distinguished Professor of Film Practice. He first gained attention in 2002 with Golden Burn and achieved international recognition with Bait (2019), which won the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer. His other notable works include The Midnight Drives, Happy Christmas, and Enys Men (screened at Cannes in 2022), all marked by a distinctive formal approach rooted in 16mm film.
