Day 7 - Step aside with Denis Côté

The day kicks off with Human Resource by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit (10:30 am – Kinepolis Kirchberg), a Thai drama discovered in Venice. This will be the film’s last screening and the international jury’s first outing, an event in itself.

For the sweet madness of the day, head to the Cinémathèque @Théâtre des Capucins at 2 pm with Hen by György Pálfi, a Hungarian filmmaker renowned for his visually hallucinatory films. A story about a chicken that has nothing to envy of the weird Greek wave.

In the evening, the programme will shift to more raw worlds. Barrio Triste (6.15 pm – Ciné Utopia) marks the transition to feature film for Stillz, director of music videos for Bad Bunny and Rosalía (produced by Harmony Korine), with this story of a stolen camera in the hands of teenagers in Medellín in 1987.

Finally, Luxfilmfest will welcome iconic Quebec director Denis Côté with his film Paul (8:15 pm – Ciné Utopia). An unjudgmental portrait of an obese, anxious and depressed forty-something who has found balance by cleaning the homes of dominatrixes and posting about it on Instagram. Acclaimed at the Berlinale, winner of the Jury Prize at Hot Docs… undeniably one of the most surprisingly tender works of the year.
