We'll find happiness (On sera heureux)
Synopsis
Saad, a young illegal immigrant from Morocco, plans a perilous journey to Canada with Reza, his Iranian lover, Reza. Upon arriving in Montreal, Saad is called to save Reza from certain deportation to Iran, where inevitable punishment awaits. In a desperate move, Saad tries to seduce a high-ranking spokesperson from the Ministry of Immigration, in the hope of obtaining favors regarding Reza’s safety.
Remaining faithful to Léa Pool’s cinema, We’ll Find Happiness emphasizes the silences, glances, and diffuse emotions of its characters, relying on a refined mise-en-scène and the actors’ subtle performances. A drama that takes a direct look at the ugly injustices of our societies.
