Crazy Cinématographe for kids "Crazy Cartoons Circus" (6+)
About
Film’s crazy beginnings in a tented fairground cinema.
The Crazy Cinématographe for Kids‘ tent is back in town and has a programme entirely dedicated to children on offer. A unique introduction to the art of the silent film.
This year the Crazy Cinématographe for Kids takes you on a wild ride to the crazy beginnings of animated cinema, to a time before the famous Mickey Mouse was even born! Curious films from the 1910s and 1920s that are completely off their rocker and haven’t aged a day: From Gertie the perfectly trained dinosaur lady, the first ever cartoon from 1914, to Felix the Cat, the legendary cartoon character with the toothy grin.
The Crazy Cinématographe is a playful, educational media project which brings the magic and poetry of cinema’s early days back to life. A proper journey through time takes the audience back to the inception of film as an art form over 100 years ago. A film narrator accompanies the screenings. He adds explanations to each film and explains the workings of early cinema. Audiences can watch a projectionist at work. A pianist plays live piano music to set the mood. Together with a foley artist, they turn a film screening from bygone days into a unique experience.
