Late Night Bizarre by Ciné Utopia- Backrooms

Thursday June 11, 9pm Ciné Utopia

Building on LuxFilmLab — a collaboration between the Luxembourg City Film Festival and Kinepolis that presents exclusive avant-premieres each month — audiences can now also look forward to an occasional selection of genre films alongside the regular programme: horror, science fiction, fantasy, thrillers, and everything in between.

In line with the Festival’s Late Night Bizarre by Ciné Utopia label, these screenings will also be introduced by a member of the Festival’s programming team.

The first screening will take place on Thursday, June 11 at 9:00 PM (Ciné Utopia), featuring a standout event film: Backrooms (Kane Parsons, USA, 2026).

A mysterious door appears in the basement of an ordinary furniture showroom — an entrance into an endless, yellow, deserted labyrinth, lit by incessantly buzzing fluorescent lights. A psychotherapist sets out in search of a missing patient within this dimension that defies all logic.

Born from the internet phenomenon of “liminal spaces” — places that feel both familiar and unsettling — the film is directed by Kane Parsons, the youngest filmmaker ever recruited by the prestigious A24, known for films such as Midsommar and Hereditary.

Discover the film on Thursday 11th June at 9 pm at Ciné Utopia.
