Synopsis
Karli, 12, moves to the Alps with his family. There, his parent’s dream of opening their own hotel finally come true. Karli soon discovers that he can travel through time using an old service elevator…and he ends up in 1938! He meets Hanah, with whom he will have a series of adventures and who will open his eyes to a terrible chapter of History.
Influenced by detective films, The Secret Floor follows the adventures of three children caught up in the turmoil of rising Nazism, and bound together by an unwavering friendship spanning through times. A thrilling and well-researched film that fulfills an essential duty of remembrance.

Norbert Lechner
Born in 1961, Norbert Lechner studied literature, philosophy and art history in Munich. In 1991, he directed his first feature film, Wounded Faces, followed by a children’s film, Toni Goldwascher (2007). His Bavarian adaptation of Tom Sawyer, Tom and Hacke (2012) won numerous awards. In 2016, Ente gut! was selected in the Kplus Generation Competition at the Berlinale. Norbert Lechner is one of the most important directors of children’s films in the German-speaking world.
